My brother got promoted, but as part of that, he had to move to Las Vegas. (I know, it's weird.) So, my dad and I helped him pack up his apartment into a moving van so he could drive it out there on Friday. Here is the apartment at the end of the day: bare, save his huge suitcase.
(Luckily, after this, we got to go to dinner, and then he spent the night at my apartment, and I got to make him a very nice breakfast (if I do say so myself) so I felt like I got to send him off sufficiently and get to see him before he left. And he made it to LV safely. Now he's sweltering is 115 degree heat. Yeesh.)

They are filming the new NBC series Trauma in SF right now. This sign was in the Embarcadero plaza where they had set up a disaster area, with fire trucks, cop cars and a helicopter. It was very exciting.

Here are some of my knick-knacks. They are (from front to back): a hand carved dove made of olive wood ornament from Palestine via Ten Thousand Villages, a hand-folded (by me) origami crane, a needle felted pumpkin I made at a library tutorial hosted by the lady from Fancy Tiger, and lastly, a toucan ornament that is also a flute-type whistle.

T sweats a lot in the summer, so he's taken to using a handkerchief like any good Southern Gentleman would. I, like any crafty gal, decided to embroider some for him. Here is a robot holding a PBR. It's just my second time embroidering anything, so it's not perfect, but it is fun.

T and I got engaged on June 13th. :)
I didn't mention it here because we wanted to make sure all our friends and family heard it from us first. It was very romantic after a hike in Teton National Park in the rain.
However, the ring that T gave me that day was more of a place holder. And it didn't fit. Today, this ring arrived in the mail from the artisan we ordered it from in NY. It is aquamarine (my birthstone) from a responsible source and recycled white gold (to avoid questionable mining methods).
And, I just love it.

My grandma passed away this evening. My mom was up in Davis with her, and she and my step-grandpa had gone to dinner and when they came back she had just gone peacefully in her sleep.This is a bowl that I took a picture of this weekend. I took no pictures today.

Here are the first zucchini that have grown in our garden! Aren't they adorable? Tasty too. We made a pesto with garden basil yesterday and ate these with angel hair pasta and peas. Mmm.
