When Steph was here we went to Palo Alto to D's friend's birthday. We were supposed to go to a bay front park, but it was too windy. So we had one of the loveliest picnics I've been to in a long time on their back deck. It was wonderful, especially because the weather in the city was foggy and windy, and here it was perfect!Here is a view from J & J's balcony where I went with Carly to celebrate J's birthday. I finally finished this dang purse. I sewed the liner and strap, and made the buttons using this cool button maker that lets you cover buttons with fabric. I love the button maker. I want to make cloth covered buttons for EVERYTHING now.

This is the two volume Grimm's Fairy Tales that I've had since I was a kid. Although the stories are very often gruesome (I particularly remember one where the step-sisters made a girl take a bath in boiling water...or maybe that was a dream), I loved them as a kid, especially the pictures.
It was quite a rainy day today. I was bummed about not being able to BBQ and play in the park, so T and I went to Q's World Barbeque in Cherry Creek. They have lots and lots and lots of sauces that you can try-- which for T and I was kind of like a dare.

For our birthdays, D and I got each other Nintendo DSi's. They have a touch screen face recognition capabilities. Mostly I like playing my Brain Training game and I'm still trying to get into my RPG, Dungeon Explorer. I'll be very excited when we get our second copy of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicals: Ring of Fates and we can play that together, as FF is my all time favorite game franchise.

Jellyfish!
This beautiful butterfly landed on the railing right in front of us in the rain forest dome. There were a ton of butterflies all around, flitting right past us as we walked up the five story spiral ramp to the rain forest canopy.
At the bottom of the rain forest you can walk underneath the flooded Amazon floor. Some of these fish were HUGE! This is a smaller one.
If I have a driveway like this "when I grow up," I wouldn't complain. I LOVE brambles.
I usually don't like flash pictures (I took this by accident), but I liked the contrast in this. Jam gave us these flowers for D and my joint birthday party.
Today was full of planting. First, we planted these pots (and some others that didn't make it into the picture) with herbs and flowers. Then, after some naps, we planted seeds for carrots, beets, radishes, lettuce, beans and squash in our community garden plot. We also transplanted some basil. In a few weeks we'll add in tomatoes and peppers. I love summer.
Here's a picture that I thought I messed up, but then ended up really liking. I took this picture of these two friends at the wedding of some other friends in Denver. I really really love local weddings.
I was at a get together tonight with a bunch of people I haven't seen in a very long time, and my friend dropped a knife on his wine glass. This is how it broke. Not a drop spilled.
My dear friend Jen (and her awesome new man) moved in around the block from T and me a few weeks ago, thus beginning the Best Summer Ever. Here is a shot of the kick-off evening--mojitos at their house with fresh mint grown on the stoop. We also enjoyed home-fried corn chips. Yummy.
