When we were little kids, my brother and I rode our bikes to Huck Finn Pond. Moose fished and I'd read (and tanned [read: burned] - I was a slave to beauty back then.) It seemed like a really long bike ride. I never wanted to go home due, in no small part, to the fact that we'd have to again face the ferocious dogs that chased us on the way to the pond. (So began my lifelong battle with the fear of dogs.) On my dog walk today, I realized this park is actually rather far from the ranch, well over 10 miles, maybe 15. Not to shabby for elementary and middle schoolers.

1.) It is incredibly cute that you guys rode bikes to Huck Finn pond. That's a long ride, too!
ReplyDelete2.) I also have a fear of dogs. (Have we talked about this?)
That is a very long ride. I think the farthest I by brother and I went was a mile to Baskin-Robbins 31 Flavors (ice cream).
ReplyDeleteI do not have a fear of dogs, except for salukis. Remember the creepy dog-like dragon from The Never Ending Story? Yeah, they look like that. Look them up. A few lived at the bottom of my hill when I was growing up, and my uncle still likes to bring up the fact that I would point at them and yell, "Oh no! The saluki's going to eat me!"
