And here is my postmodern reflexivity picture.

Someday I'll have an SLR and then you'll only get to see one of my eyes too. But for now, you get both. I tried it with one, pretending like I was looking through a viewfinder, and I just looked plain silly 'cause there is no viewfinder.

I don't know what kind of plant this is. I looks to be related to rosemary, and an evergreen. I've been trying to revel in any kind of green I see lately.

These, officially, are measuring spoons, but I find their utility is maximized when they are simply perched atop the stove, lending their cooking advice when requested.

This is St. Ignatius Church at the University of San Francisco, which I can see out the window at work. (I am still at my old job, but I'm starting my new job next week at some point.) I think it's quite majestic, especially nestled among the city buildings of the Inner Richmond. And although I do not subscribe to any religious practice or organization, I have always had a fascination with structures built to God. I think they are beautiful.

My dad took me out to sushi on his way through town this evening. It was divine!

Also, tonight my dad gave me his old point-and-shoot Panasonic DMC-TZ3, which is way better than my old point-and-shoot Casio Exilim EX-Z70. So now I get to read a manual and figure out a new electronic thingamabob, which is one of my favorite things in the world to do. This "new" camera will tide me over until I can afford an SLR (!!!) which may not be for awhile.

Jon Jon likes to be near us most of the time, but he doesn't like to let on that he's needy. So he often hangs out just outside of the room we are in pretending that he would be there anyway, that it has nothing to do with us. Granted, if we closed the door, then he would meow up a storm to be let in. His coolness only goes so far before all pretenses are dropped and he lets us know how much he really does need to be right there with us.

I'm not sure what this is. It's near some maintenance-looking building and it blows out steam. Each morning as I drive past, I pretend it's making the noise of a Buddhist monk chanting a low drone.

So, mother nature heard my complaint yesterday. She let loose with HUGE flakes falling intermittently today, but never harder than the moment I got to the bus stop to wait for the bus--which was late of course. When I got to Boulder, it had stopped snowing and there were some fat robins hanging out in a tree eating dried berries. I would have taken a picture of them, but I forgot my camera. They were so cute! I'm hoping I can find them another day to show you. Instead, today I show you this lovely chocolate. I'm working on a paper and it is dang cold today so I figured I had warrant to tear into this goodness. Mmmmmmm.

This little guy belonged to one of my old roommates; I have no idea which one. It sat in the back patio, completely dead, for over a year. And then it sprouted to life again, completely without help or water from me. He's my little miracle plant, albeit a desert plant. I think it's hard to kill desert plants, no matter how much I neglect to water them.

Also, I love the color blue that they painted my neighbor's house, don't you? Our house, sadly, was painted a rust brown. It's not horrible, but I wanted the blue. Granted, we can't see the outside of our house out of any of our windows, and we can see this lovely blue wall from our living room. :)

This is a mobile/wind chime-like decorative item that hangs in my kitchen. I've taken it down a few times but it always ends back up--I think my brother likes it. Happy Barack Obama is our president day!! I watched the inauguration address a the University of Colorado student union with a bunch of other civic minded students. (I let my class go early so they could watch it, too.) Everyone was happy and cheering. After I got home, T and I walked down to the Skylark to join one of the multitude of "neighborhood inagural balls" being hosted around the country. Notice in this picture, from left to right: 1) Obama/Biden poster, 2) neon beer sign back-lighting the flag, 3) an effigy of Bush hanging by his neck. I don't wish Bush that kind of ill, but I am awfully glad he isn't our president any more.

Today I gave blood for the national day of service. It was really busy there, which they were not expecting, especially because it was a holiday. Everyone who was donating was so kind. One woman helped the lady at the "canteen" (where you sit and drink juice and eat donuts after donating) put the water bottle on the cooler because it was too heavy. One woman jumped up to help an old man put on his coat. Another woman helped a blind woman with her bags. It just seemed like everyone was in such a good mood, everyone wanted to help. I feel like the mood of the country has changed. We may be in tough times, but it's never too tough that we can't help out those around us. It was a good day.

These two campaign signs are still very commonly seen in windows all over the Bay Area. It's kind of bitter sweet, because Obama's win was such a soaring victory for us and Proposition 8 was such a tragic one.

I love birds as much as the next guy, sure. But these starlings were making quite the racket today. Upon stepping into my coop, about 20 of them came flying out in a manner that would have scared even Hitchcock himself. Later, running my fingers through my (newly cut!) coiffure, I found bird poo--which induced two rounds of dry heaving.

I was working on this piece for a show, but just couldn't get it done it time---I think I don't know enough about glue...or gravity...or welding. Things kept falling apart.

My idea was to visually express emotions that we don't experience all the time, which are intense, fleeting and rare: Ah-ha!, anxiety attack, euphoria, "It's on the tip of my tongue!", upon revealing a lie, upon telling a lie, curiosity, deja vu. Five of those are represented here and the rest are drying or non existent.
